The Rothschild & Co South Africa Foundation celebrated the inaugural award of a new scholarship in commemoration of the founding Chairperson of the Foundation, Mrs Dolly Mokgatl, a human rights lawyer and prominent advocate for the empowerment and development of young leaders, who sadly passed away in 2021.
The first recipient of the new scholarship was Sihle Hlabangane, who has overcome considerable adversity in accessing education, and is now going on to pursue an accounting degree at the University of Johannesburg. She is pictured with the Trustee of the Foundation, Mr Murphy Morobewho.
The South Africa Foundation was created in 2012 to help disadvantaged students study courses related to financial services at WITS or UJ in Johannesburg. The Foundation has awarded 144 scholarships so far, enabling students to complete degrees in finance-related fields and embark on successful careers.
Providing access to education and empowering young people to reach their full potential are key priorities for R&Co4Generations, the Group’s Foundation founded in 2021. We are proud of the Rothschild & Co South Africa Foundation and its impact which aligns to Rothschild & Co’s philosophy.
